Black Bean Hummus

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans

  • 1 clove garlic (or 1 Tbs minced)

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, or more to taste

  • 1½ tablespoons tahini

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin, or more to taste

  • ½ teaspoon salt, or more to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Drain beans and set aside liquid (keep).

  2. Place garlic into the bowl of a food processor and pulse until minced.

  3. Add black beans, 2 tablespoons bean liquid, lemon juice, tahini, cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper; process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.

  4. Taste and add additional bean liquid, lemon juice, tahini, cumin, salt, and pepper as needed.

  5. Transfer to a serving bowl.
